Huge shoutout to Marcus and Cheng Yee for hosting this event.
This event happened about a week ago, they organized it to be a sort of fundraiser for their humanitarian trips this summer. They had booked out this semi-private lounge area for us 50 or so guests to hang out for a few hours. They had prepared some dinner for us to eat too, so that was super nice, they really put in a lot of effort. They had even brought some board games for us to play, which was nice, but the best part was the people. A lot of time was just spend catching up with old friends you haven't seen for a while and those who are new to you, but have become friends with someone else there. It makes sense to become friends with people who are sort of similar to you, and in this case everyone was nice, friendly, approachable, a great group of people to hang out with.
On the other hand, UBC is pretty damn far. On average, it would probably take twice as long to get to UBC rather than SFU Burnaby. And SFU has Burnaby, Surrey, Vancouver campuses, Burnaby taking the longest time using transit. Kind of makes you appreciate having different campuses just to break up the monotomy.
Cheers,
Aaron
